In our music video we made links to different conventions, for example we applied goodwins theory of matching lyrics to visuals, we applied this a few times in our video as it worked well alongside matching music to visuals also. This was to try and create new links to the original conventions.
One way of looking at creativity can be where you take inspiration from other texts and making it your own, we watched music videos that were narrative based, we used this idea of a story which was out of sequence, we made our own short story but did it so that it did not look like a short film.
Rule breaking and testing is a part of creativity, we tried using different transitions and editing effects. We tested how far we could go about altering them and seeing if they worked or not and having to make sure our clips were long enough each side for us to insert the transition.
